Educational Programs

Corps of Discovery, our comprehensive curriculum library, is fully compliant with state standards and can be delivered onsite or via remote streaming
- Corps of Discovery programs for younger students can be as short as 15 minutes. For older students, program duration can vary depending on your needs and interests, or you can select from one of our story-based missions. For example our “B4 We Know Where” program runs for 12 hours over a span of four days.
- For on-site programs, students typically rotate between sets of simulator and classroom activities with the number of rotations dependent on classroom size and simulator seating capacity.
- Current Corps of Discovery programs with classroom activities are designed for K-8th grade students. However, many can be adapted to address the needs of students in grades 9 through 12. The following list is a sample of our programs and their suggested grade levels:
| Grade | Program |
|---|---|
| K – 2nd | Prominent Constellations |
| K – 2nd | SmartQUEST Reading |
| 3rd – 4th | SmartQUEST Charting |
| 5th – 8th | SmartQUEST Trivia |
| K – 8th | Solar System Tour |
| 3rd – 5th | Planet Motion, Seasons & 3D Coordinates |
| 6th – 8th | Molecules and Absorption Spectroscopy |
| 5th – 8th | Systems Engineering – Acceptance Test Plan |
| 6th – 8th | B4 We Know Where |
| 6th – 8th | E2 Life Analysis Lab |
ASL streaming enables students or other groups to participate in Corps of Discovery programs even if they lack access to an ASL simulator. Streaming from an Advanced Spaceflight Laboratory can be likened to an interactive TV or gaming experience. Participants don’t just “watch a TV show,” they interact in real-time with the mission crew to influence how their mission progresses toward its end. Corps of Discovery streaming programs, designed with an explicit focus on math and science, are an effective way to engage participants to build their STEAM and interpersonal skills.
Public Programs

Depending on your requirements, our programs can be delivered onsite with our mobile trailer or offsite via our real-time, interactive streaming service
- We create programs for summer camps, library programs, parks and recreation programs, airshows, stargazing events, and other programs and special events
- Programs can vary in duration, and depending on your needs, they can be general in nature or focused on a specific STEAM topic such as where life might be found in the Solar System or how planetary motion results in seasonal variations in climate and the visibility of the constellations.
- A commonly requested program is a simple tour of the Solar System with ASL staff offering interesting planetary facts while entertaining questions and comments from guests.
- ASL simulators also come with a competitive smartQUEST trivia game where guests score points by identifying a planet based on a set of clues presented on the main view screen. Once the correct planet is identified, players are flown to that location where more interesting facts are presented.
- Programs can be coupled with large-telescope stargazing for evening and weekend events
